"I'm sure that you have already appreciated the advantages of the fan identification system. It enabled the quick identification and detention of individuals who have committed illegal acts at stadiums, as well as monitoring their movement across cities. The system enabled us to refuse offenders from many different countries entry to the matches of the most important football tournament," Kolokoltsev said at the awards ceremony held at The International Center for Police Cooperation.

The minister added that the patrolling carried out by Russian and foreign police officers and their explanatory talks with foreign citizens from the so-called "risk groups" had a "great preventive effect."

The International Center for Police Cooperation oversees Russian police's cooperation with the police forces of the countries participating in the World Cup, which kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
