More than 10,000 foreign fans will travel to the Russian city of Samara for the 2018 FIFA World Cup match between Costa Rica and Serbia, acting Deputy Governor of the Samara Region Alexander Fetisov said Wednesday.
The match will be held at the 45,000-seater Samara Arena on Sunday.
"We estimate the number of fans who will come from abroad to the first [World Cup] match [to be held in Samara] as more than 10,000... The fans have already started to arrive. Fans from Serbia... have purchased about 1,000 tickets. Several more thousands tickets have been bought by fans from Costa Rica," Fetisov told journalists.
He added that the local authorities were providing assistance to foreign fans coming to Samara through cooperation with fans' associations, travel agencies and embassies.
