Almost 256,000 football fans attended the 2018 World Cup matches that have been held in St. Petersburg so far, the city’s Tourism Development Committee says.
"A total of 255,952 spectators have attended four matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in St. Petersburg," the committee said in a statement.
A sell-out crowd of 64,468 fans watched the matches between hosts Russia and Egypt, Brazil and Costa Rica and Argentina and Nigeria, while a total of 62,548 spectators attended the Morocco v Iran game.
St. Petersburg is one of the 11 Russian cities hosting the FIFA World Cup, with three more knockout-stage games set to be played at the St. Petersburg Stadium, including a semi-final and the third-place match.
