As many as 40,502 people attended the World Cup group stage game between Peru and Denmark in Saransk, FIFA said on Saturday.
The game, which ended with Denmark winning 1-0, took place at the Mordovia Arena, built specifically for the World Cup. The official capacity of the arena is over 41,000 seats.
Both teams are also set to play against Australia and France in Group C.
