MINSK, July 18 (Sputnik) - More than 4 million people in Belarus watched the matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on TV, the Belarusian National State Television and Radio Company (Belteleradio) said on Wednesday.
"The World Cup... aroused great interest among Belorussian fans... On channels Belarus 5 and Belarus 2, over 4 million people watched the 2018 World Cup (59 percent of Belarus's urban population aged four and older)," Belteleradio said.
The company's press service added that the Russia-Croatia quarter-final was the most viewed match in Belarus as 1.43 million people tuned in to see Croatia beat the host nation on penalties.
A total of 1.36 Belarusians watched the final, where Croatia lost 4-2 to France.
The World Cup took place in 11 Russian cities from June 14 to July 15.
