Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic said midfielder Ivan Perisic was the kind of a player who can become his side’s trump card and help them win the FIFA World Cup final against France.
Perisic was named the man of the match, after he scored in the 68th minute and assisted forward Mario Mandzukic who found the winner in extra time, as his side beat England 2-1 on Thursday (AEST) and advanced to their first-ever World Cup final.
“Perisic has faith in himself, we need the player we saw at the Euro [2016]" Dalic said. "With this kind of a player we will win the World Cup.
"He is not at the peak of his ability, maybe, because I asked him to help in defence. But this is our strategy – he should help the defenders.
"Now Perisic scored, which gave him even more confidence, and I am waiting that he will show his best at the final."
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until Sunday, with the final set to be held at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
