Peru head coach Ricardo Gareca has thanked Russian medics on for assisting Jefferson Farfan, who suffered a head injury after colliding with a teammate during Saturday's training session.
"Farfan collided with a teammate during the training, and we were very scared at first," said Gareca.
"He lost consciousness for a couple of minutes. We are so grateful to Russian medics as the player immediately received all necessary assistance.
"Now he is at hospital. Due to Russian regulations, he needs to stay there for 72 hours. He could leave the hospital, but we consider that it's better to follow all the rules. We are grateful to Russia and all the doctors who helped us."
The head coach also said that defender Alberto Rodriguez, who suffered an injury during Peru's 1-0 defeat by Denmark, would also miss their next game against Australia.
"All the other players are ready for tomorrow's match," Gareca added.
Peru were knocked out of the World Cup after losing their first two Group C games to Denmark and France and will face Australia in their last match at the tournament in the Black Sea resort of Sochi tomorrow night.
