MOSCOW, May 31 (Sputnik) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has discussed domestic agenda, including the preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, with the Security Council, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday.
"There was a discussion of the current issues of Russian domestic social and economic agenda. Issues related to the preparations for the FIFA World Cup were also discussed," Peskov said.
High-ranking Russian politicians took part in the Security Council meeting, including speakers of both upper and lower houses of Parliament Valentina Matvienko and Vyacheslav Volodin, Presidential Administration head Anton Vaino, Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, Federal Security Service chief Alexander Bortnikov and Foreign Intelligence Service head Sergey Naryshkin.
Russia's first-ever World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 arenas in 11 cities across the country. Teams will play in Moscow, Kaliningrad, Saint Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Saransk, Rostov-on-Don, Sochi and Yekaterinburg.
