Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday that the country was ready to host the FIFA World Cup, which will kick off in Moscow on Thursday, and provide comfort for all the fans.
"Our country is ready to host the FIFA World Cup, and provide everyone who will come to Russia with maximum comfort and the best emotions possible," Putin said at the 68th FIFA Congress in Moscow.
Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with the fixtures set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
