Russian President Vladimir Putin will find time to meet with the national football team in the near future, according to the Kremlin.
He has already invited head coach Stanislav Cherchesov to take part in a meeting to discuss the FIFA World Cup in Kaliningrad on 20 July, said spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
“The president said that Cherchesov will definitely be invited to the meeting, and he will find time to meet with our team in the immediate future, one way or another,” Peskov told journalists.
He added that, at the meeting, the Council for Physical Culture and Sport and the Russia 2018 Local Organising Committee will discuss the tournament and the future use of the its venues and facilities.
Peskov also said that the president "will be happy" to see Cherchesov taking part in the meeting to help preserve the “football dynamics.”
On Sunday, Peskov said that Putin noted Russia's strong-willed performance in the quarter-final match against Croatia and invited players and the head coach to discuss the results of the World Cup.
Russia were eliminated from the tournament, as Croatia beat them on penalties in Sochi on Saturday to advance to the World Cup semi-finals, where they will face England on Thursday morning.
