MOSCOW, July 5 (Sputnik) - Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani will to come to Russia for the finals of the FIFA World Cup and plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin next week, Qatar's Ambassador to Russia Fahad Attiyah told Sputnik on Thursday.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
"We are now working to make that meeting happen towards the last week of this tournament," the Qatari ambassador said when asked if the meeting between Putin and Al Thani was being planned.
"Towards the finals," he said, when asked when the emir would travel to Moscow.
