Real Madrid and Spain defender Sergio Ramos said Tuesday that too much attention was being paid to Egypt striker Mohamed Salah's injury which he suffered during the Champions League final, and the part Ramos played in it.
The Liverpool forward damaged ligaments in his shoulder during the first half of their 3-1 defeat by Real Madrid on May 26 following a challenge by Real's captain Ramos.
Ramos was quoted by the Spanish Diario AS daily as saying."They've given this a lot of attention, the Salah thing... I didn't want to speak because everything is magnified.
"I see the play well, he grabs my arm first and I fell to the other side, the injury happened to the other arm [Salah's] and they said that I gave him a judo hold.
Ramos added that he had spoken to Salah via text messages and that the Egypt star was "quite good."
Salah has been included in Egypt’s World Cup squad, with media reports suggesting he should be fit to return to playing after three weeks, which would make him available for his country’s match against World Cup hosts Russia in St. Petersburg on June 19.
Russia will host its first FIFA World Cup from June 14 to July 15, with the fixtures set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.
The host nation and Egypt, along with Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, have been drawn in Group A.
