The first-ever World Cup was held in Uruguay in 1930.

"Russia is a political and economic force, and a great sports force. More than 80 years on, Russia has hosted the best World Cup in history. The infrastructure, the meeting of fans, and the organisation are at the highest level," Caceres told journalists at a press conference.

The sports minister added that the world and countries have changed since the first World Cup but love for football still unites people.

Russia and Uruguay, who have six points each and have already booked their spots in the round of 16, will play each other in their last Group A game at the Samara Arena later on Monday.
