Egypt, alongside Saudi Arabia and Uruguay, is one of the teams set to play against Russia in Group A at the tournament.

“The game [between Russia and Egypt] will take place on June 19, there is still a lot of time ahead. I was worried for Salah during the game, because I was rooting for Liverpool. We hope the injury is not serious indeed,” Cherchesov told reporters, adding that he did not discuss the injury with his players, as the preparations for the game have not yet started.

Liverpool forward Salah damaged ligaments in his shoulder during the first half of the Champions League final against Real Madrid on Saturday following a challenge from Real's captain Sergio Ramos. According to Egyptian Sports Minister Khaled Abdel Aziz, the 25-year-old should recover within the next two weeks.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15. The games are set to be held in 11 cities across the country.
