INNSBRUCK, May 30 (Sputnik) - Russia lost 1-0 to Austria in the pre-World Cup penultimate friendly in Innsbruck on Wednesday.
The only goal was scored by Austria midfielder Alessandro Schopf in the 28th minute.
The Russian national team will play another friendly on June 5 against Turkey in Moscow ahead of this summer's World Cup.
Russia will host its first World Cup from June 14 to July 15. The fixtures will be played at 12 stadiums across 11 cities, with the host nation facing Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A.
Austria failed to qualify for the tournament finishing fourth in their group during the World Cup qualifiers.
