NEUSTIFT IM STUBAITAL, May 28 (Sputnik) - Russia midfielder Aleksandr Yerokhin, who has been training individually since Sunday due to a minor foot injury, is expected to return to group training sessions on Tuesday, the team said Monday.
Russia's preliminary FIFA World Cup squad are currently training in the Austrian town of Neustift ahead of their pre-tournament friendlies.
"Midfielder Aleksandr Yerokhin is training individually today due to a minor foot injury. He is expected to rejoin the team tomorrow," the team posted on Twitter.
The 28-year-old Zenit St. Petersburg player has won 17 Russia caps since his international debut in 2016 and was fielded by head coach Stanislav Cherchesov at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup and in the international friendlies before and after the tournament.
Russia will play friendlies against Austria and Turkey on May 30 and June 5 respectively.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will be held between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities. The host nation will face Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A.
