Russia has repeated its success of hosting large-scale international sporting events at the 2018 World Cup, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the meeting with President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach.
"You must have already seen the evaluation [of the World Cup] by the specialists and the sportsmen themselves. I hope, we managed to repeat the success of hosting and organizing large-scale international sporting competitions," Putin said, recalling the 2014 Winter Olympics that were held in Sochi.
The World Cup, which kicked off on June 14 will come to a close later on Sunday with France, who are looking to lift their second World Cup trophy, facing Croatia in the final at Moscow's 78,000-seater Luzhniki Stadium at 18:00 local time .
