"I think that Russia will become more popular as a tourist destination among the Mexicans. Its popularity has already grown after hosting the 2017 Confederations Cup, in which our country took part. More than a thousand Mexicans visited Russia back then and tens of thousands of my fellow countrymen are going to attend the World Cup," Moreno said.

The ambassador added that the World Cup would present a good opportunity for Mexicans to learn more about Russia and experience the hospitality of the locals.

Russia will host its first-ever FIFA World Cup between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 cities.

Mexico will play in Group F at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, facing reigning champions Germany, South Korea and Sweden.
