The results of the poll showed that a total of 20 percent of the respondents believe that Russia would lift the trophy, while 14 percent said that Brazil will become World Cup winners for the sixth time.

The poll was conducted among 1,600 respondents aged 18 or older on Wednesday with the margin of error not exceeding 2.5 percentage points.

Hosts Russia secured two victories and suffered one defeat during the group stage before beating 2010 World Cup winners Spain on penalties on their way to the quarter-final, where they will face Croatia at Sochi's Fisht Stadium on Saturday.

Brazil won two of their group-stage matches and drew one, finishing top of their group and defeating Mexico 2-0 in the round of 16. Tite's men will take on Belgium in Kazan on Friday in their quarter-final match with the kick-off set for 21:00 Moscow time (18:00 GMT).

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
