Most Russians think France will win the 2018 World Cup, a poll conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VTsIOM) has revealed.
France, who secured their only World Cup crown on home turf in 1998, will face Belgium in the semi-finals, with the other match pitting England against Croatia.
"Every fifth respondent (21%) believes that France will become the winner," the pollster said in a statement.
England was named as the possible champions by 18% of the respondents, while 17% expect Croatia to claim the title. Surprisingly, Roberto Martinez's impressive Belgian side received the fewest votes, with 14%.
The phone survey was conducted among 1,600 respondents aged 18 or older on Sunday.
