Football fans and volunteers in Nizhny Novgorod will be offered free bus rides on match days of the upcoming FIFA World Cup. This will include both special shuttle buses and regular city transport, the Nizhny Novgorod governor and government’s press service said on Tuesday.
According to the statement, seven shuttle routes will be set up for fans and volunteers, who will also be provided free transport on the city’s regular buses, trams and on the metro on the days when matches are held in Nizhny Novgorod.
“Spotting the difference between a special free shuttle from a regular bus will be very easy: all the shuttles have logos of the World Cup painted on them, as well as the number of the route… The shuttles will have their own special timetable,” the statement said.
Volunteers and those with FIFA accreditation will have the right to use all city transport for free from May 14 to August 15.
In order to get a free ride, fans will need to show a FAN ID, a match ticket or a document granting the right for a ticket. Volunteers and World Cup personnel will need to show an accreditation card valid for the entire period of the World Cup.
The World Cup will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15, with Nizhny Novgorod being set to host four group stage games, a round of 16 encounter and a quarter-final.
