MOSCOW, June 4 (Sputnik) - Sports agent Dmitry Selyuk said on Monday that Russia’s players would step out onto the pitch like they were “ready for battle” during the World Cup, and the team would make it to the knockout stage of this summer’s FIFA World Cup.
“I am sure that Russia will make it to the knockout stage. The coaching staff and the players will do their best. Despite all the criticism he has received, [head coach Stanislav] Cherchesov can hold things together, and get the team in the right frame of mind as he has a strong personality. Russia are hosting the World Cup, and both the players and the fans will be ready for battle,” Selyuk said.
The tournament will take place from June 14 to July 15 in 11 cities across Russia, with the hosts set to play Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay in Group A.
