A resident of the Moscow Region was arrested in Saransk for selling overpriced tickets for matches of the World Cup, city officials have said.
The policemen seized 16 tickets for the World Cup games worth from 10,000-30,000 rubles (AUS $215-645) each.
"Before the World Cup match in Saransk, police stopped the illegal reselling of tickets at inflated prices by a resident of the Moscow Region. The citizen admitted that he had already sold four tickets for the match between Colombia and Japan," the press service said.
The suspect faces a fine in the amount of 20 to 25 times the cost of one ticket to the match.
Saransk is one of the 11 Russian cities hosting the World Cup. The 42,000-seater Mordovia Arena will host the last of its four World Cup games on Thursday when Panama taking on Tunisia in Group G.
