The 109-cap ex-Socceroo will be joined on the judging panel for FIFA's annual player awards by nine other former internationals from around the world.

They are: goalkeepers Vitor Baia (Portugal), Peter Schmeichel (Denmark), Jorge Campos (Mexico), Gordon Banks (England), Rene Higuita (Colombia), and Rinat Dasaev (USSR), plus strikers Diego Forlan (Uruguay), Frededie Kanoute (Mali) and Alessandro Altobelli (Italy).

Last year, Cristiano Ronaldo was voted Best Player in the men's game, while Italian veteran Gianluigi Buffon was voted Best Goalkeeper. Zinedine Zidane took the Best Coach award, and France striker Olivier Giroud won the Puskas Award for the best goal.

This time around, Schwarzer and co. will shortlist ten candidates for each awards category, which will be unveiled on 23 July, with a public vote opening on the same day.

Football fans, national team captains, head coaches and more than 200 media representatives will then cast their votes to decide who will be crowned the best players and coaches in the men’s and women’s game from last season.

The voting process for the award will close on 10 August, with the awards ceremony taking place in London on 24 September.
