The 2018 FIFA World Cup will kick off with the match between hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia tonight.

"Three girls and three boys from one of the poorest Chinese regions, Danzhai County in Guizhou Province, have been selected at a talent competition. They will carry the official FIFA flag onto the football pitch before the World Cup opening match between Russia and Saudi Arabia," a Wanda spokesperson said.

They added that "for these children it is a dream to go abroad for the first time and be in the center of the football arena which will be watched by millions of fans all over the world."

Wanda Group signed a contract with FIFA in 2016, becoming the first Chinese company to sponsor FIFA, with their deal lasting until 2030.

Having received exclusive rights to select flag bearers, Wanda Group selected a total of 384 children aged between 12 and 17 from all over the world, who will carry the FIFA flag before every match of this summer's tournament in Russia.
