England head coach Gareth Southgate said on Tuesday that he knew certain articles published in the UK media ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia would not appear to be true.
England beat Sweden 2-0 in Samara on Saturday and are through to the semi-finals where they will play against Croatia in Moscow on Wednesday.
"The way we've been received here is fantastic... Everywhere we've played we've had a really warm welcome and the organization of the tournament is being absolutely first-class... There were a lot of stories leading into the tournament that I knew weren't going to be true and that's proved to be the case," Southgate told journalists.
Prior to the tournament, UK media published a number of articles warning football fans against going to Russia for the World Cup.
