England head coach Gareth Southgate said on Friday that his team had been give a “fantastic” welcome in every city they had visited during the World Cup.
England are gearing up to take on Sweden in the quarter-finals in Samara on Saturday.
“It’s difficult for me to say much about Samara, because we have only been here for an hour. But every city we’ve visited in Russia, we’ve had a fantastic welcome... Every venue we’ve been to, the organization has been brilliant. And we know already the stadium looks fantastic. We are looking forward to the match,” Southgate told journalists.
He added that his team are still an “evolving side” and although they have made progress in the last 12 months, they “have to continue to improve.”
