The Group B match took place at the Kaliningrad Stadium on Monday and ended in a 2-2 draw, which means that Spain will face Group A runners-up Russia in their round of 16 match.

Morocco took the lead early in the first half after Khalid Boutaib snatched the ball away from Andres Iniesta and Sergio Ramos near Spain's penalty area and fired a shot through the legs of goalkeeper David de Gea.

However, the Moroccan supporters did not celebrate for long as Isco smashed home the equalizer for Spain, following some great build-up play, just five minutes later.

Youssef En-Nesyri thought he had ensured that Morocco would finish their World Cup campaign on a high note as he fired a header past de Gea from a corner kick.

However it was not to be, as Iago Aspas cleverly flicked the ball into the net in stoppage time, to spare Spain’s blushes. The goal was originally ruled out for offside, but it was overruled by the video assistant referee (VAR), which showed the goal should stand.

Spain will take on Russia at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday.
