Salah was substituted in the 31st minute of the game, after falling heavily following a challenge with Ramos. Real Madrid eventually went on to win the match 3-1, winning the UEFA Champions League for a third consecutive season.

“Sometimes football shows you it's good side and other times the bad. Above all, we are fellow pros. Get well soon, Mo Salah,” Ramos posted on his Twitter feed.

The Egyptian Sports minister, Khaled Abdel Aziz, earlier on Sunday posted on Twitter that it would take Salah about two weeks to recover. He expects the Liverpool forward to be included in Egypt’s 23-man World Cup squad, with the country set to make their first appearance at the tournament since 1990.

Egypt will face the hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia in Group A. Their first match will be against Uruguay on June 15.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place between June 14 and July 15 at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities.
