Swedish Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg will arrive in St. Petersburg to support his national team during their FIFA World Cup round of 16 match against Switzerland.
Sweden will take on Switzerland at the St. Petersburg Stadium on Wednesday morning (AEST).
"Swedish Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg will visit St. Petersburg for the national football team's match against Switzerland," said officials.
Damberg is also expected to hold meetings with local authorities and representatives of Swedish companies operating in Russia, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and media.
The political leadership of Sweden did not attend the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony as a sign of protest against the political situation in Russia.
In late June, Swedish Deputy Prime Minister Margot Wallstrom said that Swedish officials would come to Russia to support their national team, without revealing who exactly would come.
