Sweden head coach Janne Andersson said on Sunday that he had made it a rule to announce starting line-ups to the team a day before matches.
“It is my principle to decide on the line-up and to announce it to the boys a day before a match, because they should go to bed calm and it is important psychologically. Overall, we know what to expect from the opponent, they [South Korea] have a good team. They changed a few things from the tactical point of view, that’s why we are ready for various scenarios,” Andersson told journalists.
Sweden will face South Korea on Monday in their opening Group F game of the FIFA World Cup in Russia. They will play against defending champions Germany and Mexico on June 23 and June 27 respectively.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on Thursday with the Russian national team thrashing Saudi Arabia 5-0. The tournament will continue until July 15, with a total of 64 matches set to be played at 12 stadiums across 11 Russian cities.
