Brazil were held to 1-1 draw by Switzerland in teams' first World Cup match at the Rostov Arena on Sunday.

"I do hope they [opponents] will start looking up and taking notice of us, taking us seriously," Petkovic said post match.

"We play very well, we only lost once in the last matches and I think it's a great feat in itself. And also playing against Spain and Brazil we demonstrated that this team always believes in itself and can feel the result.

"I had hoped that we would play our game and try to impose our way of playing. Against a difficult and strong opponent you need to be realistic, of course. I think, the team has shown real determination, the true spirit and, as far as self-confidence is concerned, I'm very happy indeed."

Switzerland will face Serbia on Friday and then will take on Costa Rica on June 27.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on Thursday and will continue until July 15, with the matches set to be played in 11 cities across Russia.
