MOSCOW, May 31 (Sputnik) - Switzerland and Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka sustained a knee injury during training and could miss the upcoming World Cup in Russia, the Swiss media reported on Thursday.
According to the Tages Anzeiger newspaper, Xhaka, 25, was injured after challenge with a teammate and was unable to leave the field of play without assistance. He was subsequently sent to hospital for a scan on his knee.
The World Cup will take place in Russia from June 14 to July 15. Switzerland have been drawn in Group E along with Brazil, Serbia and Costa Rica.
