Read what the fans had to say about tonight's A-League match up…
Sydney FC looked to extend their unbeaten run in this A-League season with a Friday night match against strugglers Adelaide United.
Rhyan Grant's controversial tackle and a questionable offside call on Holosko headlined a lacklustre first half.
Coach Graham Arnold's men struggled to create chances in the final third, while Adelaide failed to display much of an attacking threat.
The match finally opened up in the second half, with a goal from Alex Brosque in the 58th minute. From there on, the Sky Blues took complete control of the game, increasing their lead to 2-0 through a Ninkovic goal only two minutes later.
Sydney had a few more chances in the closing stages of the match, but failed to convert. It wasn't an enthralling game of football, but it was an important win for the home team who have set a new A-League record by notching up 40 points in the first 16 rounds. Meanwhile another game for coach Guillermo Amor's Adelaide to reflect on.
But how did the fans react to the important, controversial and impressive moments of the game?
On the crowd number…
11,255 fans attended the match at Allianz Stadium, raising questions about why Sydney's fans aren't showing up.
Small crowd at Allianz for a Fri night but to be honest @SydneyFC dont play the sort of football that attracts fans. #SYDVADL #Aleague

Why is this game being played behind closed doors? #SYDvADL

On Grant’s tackle…
Sliding tackle, studs up, follow through and a flying Marcelo Carrusca. Was Rhyan Grant's tackle worthy of more than a yellow card?
Rhyan Grant you absolute idiot #SYDvADL
— Matt Bungard (@TheMattBungard) January 20, 2017
Oof, that was an ugly tackle #SYDvADL
— Dale Stevens (@Sui1977) January 20, 2017
How is that only a yellow? #SYDvADL
— Big Intelligence Fan (@eamonnwarner) January 20, 2017

Rhyan Grant with his third red card in two weeks there #SYDvADL
— #FFAhill (@julyaugustreno) January 20, 2017
That's a red from Rhyan Grant. Not intentional but that's an ankle breaking lunge... #SYDvADL
— Jason Allen (@JasonJFT96) January 20, 2017
A slap to the face = red card.
— Leo James (@LeoJames01) January 20, 2017
Metal studs, misses the ball to the leg = yellow card.
🤔 #SYDvADL #ALeague
On the offside call on Holosko…
Ninkovic fed a ball through to Holosko in the 26th minute, and the ball was put in the net, only to be undone by the assistant referee's raised flag. After viewing replays, the general consensus on Twitter was that the offside call was an incorrect decision.
Horrible call that! #SYDvADL

A-League officiating is bordering on disgraceful. Beautiful passage and goal from Sydney wrongly ruled offside. #SYDvADL
— SFC (@KioskSuzfitz) January 20, 2017
Can't argue, that was onside. Hopefully we make the most of the let off. #ALeague #SYDvADL
— Justin Civitillo (@JC_Kazama) January 20, 2017
@SydneyFC robbed of a goal, Holosko onside, but won't complain too much, we have enjoyed plenty of good luck this season. #SYDvADL #ALeague

Still not convinced by Bobo either. Holosko needs to get in the game more. #SYDvADL
— Matt Classic (@23RBG) January 20, 2017
Considering the teams I wouldn't have expected this to be that much of a low intensity match #SYDvADL

Time to bring on the Irish boys, Jordan O'Doherty and Micky O'Chieng #SYDvADL

On Ninkovic’s goal…
A goal-mouth scramble ended in Ninkovic calmly slotting the ball in the top left corner. Did the fans feel that the game was put to bed at this stage?

— Justin Civitillo (@JC_Kazama) January 20, 2017
Yes it was a red but that doesn't excuse that performance. Horrible. Actually, a disgrace. #SYDvADL #ALeague
— Spiro K-Mimis (@SkMim2) January 20, 2017
No positives out of tonight. Absolute garbage second half. Game over at 1 nil, we never looked capable of scoring #SYDvADL #AUFC
— Andrew (@melatonii) January 20, 2017
Wonder how that game would have gone if Grant was sent off, like he should have been. #SYDvADL
