Uruguay head coach Oscar Tabarez said on Friday that he did not want to talk about his future with the team after their 2-0 defeat by France in Nizhny Novgorod on Friday.
“I don’t want to talk about it now. This decision is up to the management. I do not comment on such things and will not change my position on that. There were similar talks after the [2014] World Cup in Brazil, but I continued my work,” Tabarez said.
Tabarez took charge of the team in March 2006 after Uruguay had failed to qualify for three out of the preceding four FIFA World Cups. He helped his side not only to successfully qualify for the next three tournaments, but also finish fourth at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
