UK Prime Minister Theresa May has wished luck to the England team in their 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-final match against Croatia on Thursday morning.
"Productive Cabinet meeting this morning - looking ahead to a busy week. And sending our best wishes to England for tomorrow!" May said via Twitter.
Prior to the World Cup, the UK government said that neither its top-ranking officials nor members of the royal family would attend the tournament in Russia after the relations between the two countries took a nosedive following the poisoning of former Russian double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in the UK city of Salisbury.
The United Kingdom accused Russia of being involved in the attack, while Moscow has refuted the allegations and repeatedly pointed to the lack of evidence provided by London.
Both May and Prince William, who is the President of the English Football Association, regularly congratulate the English squad on their achievements at the World Cup as the team have reached the semi-finals for the first time since 1990.
