"Nine free trains, four of which are double-deckers, will carry supporters for the World Cup round of 16 match. The trains have a capacity of about 7,000 people," Polyakov said on Friday.

Polyakov added that the trains would arrive in Moscow from the Russian cities of Saransk, Volgograd, Kazan, Samara and St. Petersburg.

According to the director general, most of the ticket holders are Russians, while there are also lots of Argentinians, Colombians and Chinese among the passengers.

A total of 734 additional trains with 448,000 available seats have been scheduled for World Cup fans and accredited journalists.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off in Russia on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the games being played in 11 cities across the country.
