NIZHNY NOVGOROD, June 29 (Sputnik) - Tourists from 60 countries around the world have visited the Nizhny Novgorod Region since the beginning of the FIFA World Cup in Russia, a source in the Region’s Department of Tourism Development told Sputnik on Friday.
“During the tournament, from June 13 to 29, tourists from 60 countries around the world have visited the Nizhny Novgorod Region. The Top-5 countries are the following – Russia, Uruguay, Argentina, Sweden and Great Britain,” the source said.
Nizhny Novgorod hosted four group stage matches and is set to host a Round of 16 game between Croatia and Denmark on Sunday and a quarterfinals match on July 6.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
The group stage of the tournament finished on Thursday, and the first Round of 16 games will be held on Saturday.
