The world football governing body handed a warning to Croatia defender Domagoj Vida for chanting "Glory to Ukraine!" in a video that appeared on social media following Croatia's victory over Russia at the World Cup.

"Since football is formally separated from politics, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (of Ukraine) refrains from direct debates with FIFA, even though we do not like the fact that the federation itself does not renounce political games," wrote Klimkin on Facebook.

"As for the others - we will work with them. The Ukrainian Football Federation has already expressed Ukraine's position to the international football officials."

Croatia's coaching assistant Ognjen Vukojevic was also filmed saying "This is a victory for Dynamo Kiev and Ukraine."

The Croatian Football Federations later suspended Vukojevic from his duties at the World Cup, while the FIFA Disciplinary Committee fined him AUD $20,262 for unsporting behavior.

Vida avoided a ban and is eligible to play in the semi-final against England in the morning.

On Monday, a fresh video showing Vida say "Glory to Ukraine!" appeared online, with FIFA later saying that they were looking into the matter.
