UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised Russia on Thursday for the excellent organisation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
"I hope that the very good results of the Russian team in the two first matches will have a continuity in the near future. I believe it would be a big joy for the Russian public and I congratulate you all for the fantastic organisation," Guterres said during a discussion at the Valdai Discussion Club.
The football tournament began in Russia on June 14 and will continue through July 15. Russia is hosting the championship for the first time in its history.
