UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is Portuguese, said on Thursday that he would not be supporting Croatia or France in the 2018 FIFA World Cup final, but hoped the best team won.
Portugal were eliminated from this summer's tournament after losing 2-1 to Uruguay in the round of 16 on June 30.
"The team I would be supporting is no longer there. May the best team win," Guterres told journalists.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14, with the final between France and Croatia set to be held at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday.
