Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani scored double as Uruguay defeated Portugal 2-1 in the second 2018 World Cup round of 16 match in Sochi on Saturday.
Cavani broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when he headed home a brilliant cross from Luis Suarez.
Portugal equalized in the 55th minute with defender Pepe scoring a powerful header from Raphael Guerreiro's corner.
Cavani scored his second of the night in the 62nd minute after he curled a beautiful shot from outside the box into the far corner. The 31-year-old was substituted 12 minutes later with an apparent injury.
Uruguay will face France, who beat Argentina 4-3 earlier on Saturday in Kazan, in the quarter-finals on Friday. Portugal have been eliminated from the tournament.
