NIZHNY NOVGOROD, July 5 (Sputnik) - Uruguay head coach Oscar Tabarez said on Thursday that information regarding forward Edinson Cavani's participation in the team's quarter-final game against France would be revealed only on the day of the match.
Uruguay will face France at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium on Friday, but Cavani's participation in the game is still doubtful as he sustained an injury after scoring a brace in Uruguay's 2-1 win over Portugal on Saturday.
"He was very upset after getting injured. Cavani is an important player for us, he is in a good shape, he played very well against Portugal. Cavani started rehabilitation after he suffered an injury immediately, he is doing everything to recover. We always inform about Cavani's condition, there were official press announcements, a medical report... We will know [if he plays against France] in less than 24 hours. Let's wait for tomorrow," Tabarez told journalists.
The head coach added that he did not know France's starting lineup.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off on June 14 and will continue until July 15, with the matches being played in 11 cities across Russia.
