Villarreal players welcomed Russia midfielder Denis Cheryshev back from the 2018 World Cup with a round of applause on Tuesday.
The Spanish club posted a video on their Twitter account where Cheryshev was warmly greeted at his first training session with Villarreal after Russia were eliminated from the World Cup.
The 27-year-old scored a total of four goals during the tournament, which kicked off on June 14 and will come to an end on Sunday, with the final set to be played at Moscow's Luzhniki Stadium.
The host nation lost to Croatia 4-3 on penalties on Saturday after their quarter-final match finished 2-2 following extra time. In the round of 16, Stanislav Cherchesov's side had defeated 2010 champions Spain, also in a penalty shootout.
