An employee of Moscow's Spartak Stadium is suspected of swindling a friend, to whom he promised to sell tickets for the 2018 World Cup, out of 2.65 million rubles (AUD $57,000).
"The suspect, who was born in 1985, deceived his friend, telling him that he has the right to sell tickets for the World Cup. In the period from late May to June 10, the stadium employee received 2.65 million rubles from the victim," a Russian law source said.
He added that the suspect used money at his own discretion.
Four group-stage matches were played at the Spartak Stadium in June. The arena will host its last World Cup game when England take on Colombia in the round of 16 later on Tuesday.
