Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka said on Monday that he hopes his team would not need extra time or penalties to beat Sweden in the round of 16 of the World Cup.
"I just hope it's not going to be our last game at this tournament. As for now we are focused on the upcoming game [against Sweden]. Penalty shootout? I am not thinking about it, but yesterday we saw two penalty shoutouts, so this can happen. I hope we will manage [to win] in 90 minutes. But if it comes to the penalties, I am ready to take this responsibility," Xhaka said.
Switzerland are looking to reach the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1954 and will face Sweden in St. Petersburg on Tuesday.
