South Melbourne defeated Sorrento 4-1 in the FFA Cup Round of 16 on Wednesday night at Lakeside Stadium.

The game got off to a fantastic start with South taking the lead inside of the first minute. South continued to pile the pressure on Sorrento and they were rewarded with a second goal in the 40th minute.

The game had plenty of niggle with pushing matches breaking out at every second contest, the game took a sour note with the Sorrento striker Sean Canham given his marching orders after a second yellow card for simulation.

The second half saw South take control of the game and continue to pile the pressure on a resolute Sorrento back four.

They couldn't hold them out for the whole second half though, with the Hellas breaking through once more before Sorrento were able to snatch a consolation goal only for South to come back and scored their fourth and final goal of the evening.

Plenty of nice boots were worn by the players from classical three stripe stalwarts all the way through to the newest Adidas Aces, even the ref got in on the action!
