There's no antidote for this in front of goal...
Nike launched their new Hypervenom III in Sydney with the cream of the local NPL's young strikers to showcase its lethal capabilities in front of goal - and FTBL was there to catch the action.
The 20 hand-picked players entered via Nike.com, and were selected by the Nike Football team based on their skills, club, level of playing expertise and talent.
They took part in a series of Robert Lewandowski-inspired Lethal Finishing moves from the Nike Academy playbook.
From a simple unopposed shooting drill, they then progressed into a 2v1 with a focus on fast transitions to create scoring chances. A 6v6 small-sided game followed, concentrating on teamwork, high intensity – and GOALS!
After a pep talk from visiting Western Sydney Wanderers stars Brendon Santalab, Jausua Sotirio and Lachlan Scott, the day culminated in a Lethal Finishing Competition.
The players were challenged to compete in three different shooting scenarios to see who ultimately was the most Llthal finisher – and the winner was Sean Elder, 17, who currently plays for Manly United in NSW NPL 1.
His brother is fringe Socceroo Callum Elder, currently on loan from Leciester City at Barnsley in the Championship - and he was so determined to take part, he turned up despite having recently broken his neck.
"I was just hoping their wouldn't be a heading element to the day!" he said after being presented with his prize, a WSW jersey signed by the whole team.
