Adelaide-based Jemal Mussa is doing his bit.
Adelaide-based Jemal Mussa runs Boots for Africa, which aims to provide football gear and boots for people in Africa with the support of Socceroo Awer Mabil.
Mussa travelled to Kenya last year in his first run for Boots for Africa, but he couldn’t get the gear into the country due to strict border policies.
Not deterred by the setback, Mussa has teamed up with Denmark-based ex-Adelaide winger Mabil, who runs his own gear drive called Barefoot to Boots.
Mussa travelled to the capital of Kenya, Nairobi, later in 2016, where he created a tournament with eight teams.
He took a jersey, medals and a trophy for the winners and runners-up. He also had several pairs of spare boots to hand out.
“It was a hard deicison to think who to give them to whenever 100 people surrounded me,” he said.
