Arjen Robben opened the scoring – but before the crowd at the Hyundai Fun Park could even groan in despair, Tim Cahill's spectacular volley levelled the scoreline just seconds later.
Skipper Mile Jedinak gave Australia the lead from the penalty spot in the second half, before the Dutch managed to fight their way back into the game to level the score via Robin van Persie and then retake the lead with the winnner from supersub Memphis Depay.
It was a helluva rollercoaster game – and the crowd at the Hyundai Fun Park relished every second of the strong performance from the Socceroos.
